Digital Astrophotography, 30 April 2005
The Astronomical Society of Eastern Missouri will present a class on Digital Astrophotography featuring the use of a web cam adapted to use with a telescope to take a series of high-resolution images of Saturn and Jupiter (maybe the Moon, too). These images are then processed with a computer program that is freely available on the Internet to yield high quality composite images. The computer program will be available for distribution on CDROMs.
We will let participants take their own sequences which we will record on recordable CDs so they may take them home for processing on their own. We will use a Meade 10-inch LX-200 for the demonstration - no telescope or other equipment needed by participants. On the other hand, if you have a telescope that tracks sky motion, bring it along and we will put the camera into it for your own sequences.
Where: Weldon Springs Interpretive Center, see map below
When: 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
